I am a huge snacker. I take bites of Alyssa’s sandwiches and sips of her milk. I tell her “I just have to make sure it tastes good”. She still buys my line. Since I stay home, snacking is easy, too easy. I don’t think I can take pictures of everything all the time, it would just be too time consuming and there’d be 100 pictures per post! But here it goes for today…
After I get my wakeup call from Cassidy at 830, I nurse her, pump, then go get Alyssa. We eat cereal at around 9 am on average. Sometimes I eat oats, somtimes I’ll make us blueberry pancakes with a veggie omelet, but cereal is usually what we eat. I am kind of obsessed with it and I eat A LOT of it. This morning it was 1.5 cups skim milk with 1 bowl of raisin bran and a sliced banana, one bowl of multigrain cheerios, and one bowl of peanut butter cheerios (which are AMAZING by the way!). I’d say there is about 1.5 servings of cereal per bowl, we have some big cereal bowls. i also had a cup of decaf coffee with 1 tsp eggnog creamer. I usually have a 4th bowl but got full for some reason (I later regretted it when I was hungry at 11 for lunch).
Bowl 3 looked just like bowl 2 so I’ll spare you another picture of cereal.
After that we played makeup/dressup, washed some diapers (we use cloth), washed some baby clothes, fed Cassidy again, and changed some diapers along the way. Then I got to working on lunch. Dave came home for lunch today since he works only a couple miles away and was missing dinner tonight. On the menu was roast beef and turkey on fiber wheat with thick slices of jarelsburg cheese, avocado, a tiny bit of miracle whip, and spinach. A big serving of carrots on the side. I also snagged 2 bites of Alyssa’s peanut butter and 100% fruit jam sandwich. Man, Pb&J’s are so underrated! And I had a sliced peach on the side.
I was still hungry so I had a handful of pretzel rods dipped in peanut butter. 7 sticks and 2 TB skippy all natural chunky peanut butter later, I was semi-full. I planned on running during Cassidy’s next nap so I didn’t want to be too full.
We spent our afternoon taking a 1.5 mile walk. I carried Cassidy in the ergo therefore it was a workout in itself and Alyssa rode her bike. Then it was naptime for Cassidy which meant an oppertunity for me to run on the treadmill. However Alyssa wanted to play outside so I switched gears and made up a quick circuit type workout to complete outside while she played.
6 sprints the diagonal length of my backyard
20 kettlebell swings using 15 lb dumbbell
1 minute front plank
25 mountain climbers
30 sec each side plank
7 burpees
15 tricep extensions using 15 lb dumbbell
15 jump squats
I did the circuit 3 times with 2-3 minutes rest between each one. It took me about 26 minutes to complete. For some reason it actually left my shoulders shaking at the end. I wasn’t expecting that. Alyssa ended up doing more of my workout than playing. She can do some jump squats and burpees, watch out!
Alyssa’s turn to play photographer…
Just as I was doing my last jump squat, Cassidy cried out on the monitor. After feeding and changing Cassidy while eating an unpictured peach, i got a shower for myself and it was dinner time. Leftovers…I LOVE them. Maybe its just because I am the cook so its easy on me. But I really think leftovers taste better than the first time. It was whole wheat penne pasta, zucchini, green peppers, mushrooms, and turkey meatballs with a little garlic and herb cream cheese and fresh grated parmasean. A huge salad with 3 cups mixed greens packed down into my cereal bowl, 2 egg whites, green pepper, and balsalmic vinegar on the side. I was still hungry so I ate a large red delicous apple (unpictured).
After dinner my little sous chef and I made some dessert. Spiced Carrot Cake Whooppie Pies…YUM! I ate 1.5. The good thing about this recipe is that it only makes 4 large (or 6 small if you so choose) cookie sandwiches so it is the perfect amount of dessert for just one night. Yet that is also the bad part, I could have eaten 5 myself if there were more. Built in portion control so I don’t have to exercise my (lack of) self control!
Its even healthy and you’d never know! Since there is no butter or white flour maybe I can actually just call this a “snack” instead of “dessert” to justify eating more of them…
Here is my breakdown for the day. It was a pretty healthy day. The goals are what babyfit.com reccommends for a mom who is exclusively breastfeeding. My body needs way more calories than they suggest though so what I ate today is really my bare minimum.
