A couple facts about me really quick before this weeks What I Ate Wednesday.
1. I don’t waste leftovers. Not a single bite. I will be eating ham and pulled pork for lunch and dinner until its gone, even if I happen to get tired of it (which rarely happens to me with leftovers, or any food for that matter). And for some reason I never freeze leftovers for a later time, I eat them right away.
2. I give into cravings. If I don’t I will rummage through my refrigerator and pantry eating anything healthy I can find. When that doesn’t cut it, I’ll move on to semi-healthy foods. When that still doesn’t cut it, I end up eating what I was craving to begin with. So I have found I eat less and am more satisfied if I just eat what I want when I want it. It all balances out if I just listen to my body.
3. This fact is more about Cassidy. She has been nursing a little more the last day or two which means a higher demand on my body (And I assume a higher calorie burn to balance out my increased hunger).
So given all three of those little facts, enter my day of eating. And I’m not going to lie, this does not hold a candle to what I ate on Monday. I could not keep food out of my mouth for some reason.
Breakfast started with 2 cups skim milk, 1/2 lb cut up strawberries, 1/2 a banana, 1 bowl shredded wheat, 2 bowls Chex, and 1 bowl Rice Krispies. And as always, I chug a 20 oz glass of water before breakfast. I wake up SO thirsty!
After breakfast we went strawberry picking. It’s a nice family farm that does not use any pesticides so they urge you to eat as you pick. Yes, urge you. I try to pay extra because Alyssa and I literally ate an entire 2 lb carton full while picking, but they won’t accept it. We bought 3 more pounds to take home. They may last us to the weekend!
We also bought a jar of local honey. Alyssa and Dave have some bad seasonal allergies and local honey is supposed to help. Even if it doesn’t, its SO good. Tastes way better than the stuff on the shelves for some reason. Neat story about the honey from this farm…its where Dakota Fanning and Queen Latifa “trained” for The Secret Life of Bees movie. They came to the farm for 3 days and the owner/beekeeper taught them what they needed to know. Pretty cool thinking they were 10 minutes from my house (a couple years ago though).
And just look at the way Cassidy looks at her big sister. She is so in love with Alyssa and just watches and smiles at her all day long.
Lunch lasted from about 1230-4. I don’t think I stopped eating the entire time. I started with a big plate full of ham (dipped in some local honey) and cauliflower mac n cheese. Then I had a carrot cake cupcake and a cannoli cup. I thought that’s where my lunch would end. HA…
A hard boiled egg and some brown rice cereal out of the bag. Then 1 avocados made into guacamole was eaten with 1 serving of chips and 1/2 a bag of baby carrots.
Even though I didn’t finish off the guac until 4 pm, my body is on such a schedule that I was hungry come my normal dinner time of 530. I had a big plate full of pulled pork and a roll with honey and strawberry jam. I also had some unpictured corn. Another cannoli cup was had for dessert. And the after dessert dessert was an Easter egg with about 8 Cadbury mini eggs inside. Not the Cadbury crème eggs, those things gross me out (but are Dave’s favorite).
And check out the manicure. Alyssa and I did our nails a nice Springy color tonight after dinner. I think pedicures are on the agenda for tomorrow!
So after looking at the all pictures lined up next to each other, I guess it doesn’t look quite as abnormal as I thought. Or maybe its just that I am watching the Biggest Loser as I type this up and a contestant just ate a burger with mayo and peanut butter on top with a grilled cheese dipped in mass amounts of mayo for an evening snack. My afternoon of snacking pales in comparison. But those people are not the ones to compare to for sure. Although I didn’t quite hit the extra cup of veggies like this months WIAW theme.
I really do feel like Cassidy has been eating a lot the last few days, which up my hunger. I am also a little stressed lately. What I need is a nice nights sleep, which I don’t see happening tonight. My sweet baby girl went to bed with a fever of 102.5. This means I will be waking up checking on her all night long, taking her temp, and she will probably be restless as well. So I’m sure I’ll be getting lots of baby snuggles in the middle of the night. I just hate seeing my babies hurt!

let me know how Cassidy is doing…bet she is still smiling thru a 102 too!!
we LOVED that strawberry farm…we got 2 things of honey…and yes it tastes WAY better!!…we hope to be visiting round blueberry picking time!!!…I miss you guys SO much!!
I love that they encourage you to eat as you pick!!! I mean, I do that anyway whether they tell me to or not!
Hope she feels better soon!
yeah it makes me feel less guilty when we walk up to the front to pay and Alyssa’s mouth is stained red (and mine probably is too!)
The strawberry picking looks like so much fun – something I nor my family have ever done before.
you should go! The only hard part is not leaving with more berries than we could possibly eat!
Wow, strawberry picking- so much fun! I can’t wait to bring my daughter to a place like that.
I hope you got a good night’s sleep and that Cassidy is feeling better this morning- have a great Wednesday!
Awwww! I hope Cassidy is feeling better, poor thing! And that you got some rest and are ready to go today. How wonderful that you brought your girls strawberry picking- those are such great memories they will cherish as they get older. Can’t wait to watch last night’s BL (I TIVO it)
She is still feeling bad today unfortunately so we are hanging out at home. Poor baby. I DVR everything I watch so I can skip through commercials!
I thought my first post didn’t go through which is why I posted again- sorry about that! Sorry to hear about your little one, hope things get better soon. I am the same way with fast forwarding commercials- I have no patience for them anymore.
Strawberry picking already?! I am jealous! I cannot wait for the season around these parts to start… we are getting there
yes! One of the things I love about living in the South! Blueberry picking starts in June
I love berry picking! We had some great farms near us in NY, but have to figure out what’s available in Tx… i would imagine strawberry time would be now, if there are some farms nearby. And I remember those days of endless eating when nursing… I still have days like that! Glad to kow I’m not the only one who can snack all day long.
How far apart are your girls? Love that pic of the two of them.
If my tiny little town has a berry picking place I’m sure theres one near you! The strawberries are at their peak here right now, SO good (and am eating some as we speak dipped in cream cheese icing
). My babies are 2 years 11 months apart and are already so close to each other I love it!
Linds…dont throw away that little paper that came with the honey…it gives good info on how to replace it with sugar in recipes…says something bout adding baking powder or soda I think…wonder why?
too late
Strawberries are so delicious right now…I seriously can’t get enough!
me neither! 4 lbs eaten in 2 days!
Holy cow! Those strawberries look amazing!
we went picking again and ate 7 lbs in 3 days!
